Random? Sure. People, Places and Things that I love.
Love the colors in this. And I seriously can’t wait for season 2 of this. Quality show please come back already…

The internet is particularly stupid tonight. Over 4 hours for a download of a tv show I missed last night. Is it somehow 1994 and am I using AOL dial-up again?
This Old Dark Machine // James Vincent McMorrow
The bastard Irish brother of Justin Vernon. Early In The Morning is such a good album.
Had to create a “damn+i+wish+i’d+made+this+shit” tag just for this.

It’s everyone’s favorite: Unpopular Opinion time! Actually, I don’t really know if this would be considered an Unpopular Opinion because I haven’t really read anyone else’s thoughts on the episode yet. But I’m just gonna say it. Didn’t like Friday’s episode of Fringe (which I only got around to watching last night). Sooner or later every show gets around to the In Someone’s Dream episode. I’m sure there’s some official trope name for it that I’m too lazy to look up right now. And they usually suck, at least the ones that I can think of right now, because they’re usually side adventure filler episodes designed to pad out the season while they save the meaty story arc-related stuff for sweeps weeks when they need the ratings count. So I’m kind of predisposed to hate these sorts of episodes, and while I wouldn’t say that I hated this one, it’s probably now my least fave Fringe episode. Why? Well, first of all Fringe has already done a few episodes kind of like this, notably Brown Betty, which which were really good. Coincidentally FOX made the brilliant decision to re-air that episode last week, just so you could compare and contrast the good and the bad.
And then there’s the animation. Ugh. I have nothing against the animation itself, it was okay, not great but not horrible either. But I feel like if you’re going to resort to animation then you should really run with it. Do some crazy fantastic stuff that you would never have the budget to do otherwise. But this is Fringe, a show that does fantastic special effects and crazy stuff every week. Sure John Noble and Leonard Nimoy are a little old for stealing blimps and running from zombies at 63 and 80 respectively, but I think they could have pulled off a lot the stuff from this episode perfectly well in live action. It was like they went the animated route simply because they could and they hadn’t done it before. I imagine the writers were all in a room together and the conversation went something like this: “Hey, you know what we haven’t done yet? Animation.” “How the hell are we gonna manage to work that into the story?” “Ooh, I know! We can throw it in the middle of this episode! Everyone’s on LSD anyway, so it sort of makes sense…” “Ah, why the heck not? Let’s go for it!”. I thought the animation was so restrictive when it came to the people. The clunky way they moved made me think of Geico’s sexy grandpa commercial. I mean we finally get to see old friends Walter and William Bell reunited (in a stolen zeppelin, no less!) for what turns out to be possibly the last time ever and we’re robbed of seeing the beautiful, subtle wash of emotion play across John Noble’s craggy face. The same for the last scene between William and Olivia. Throughout all of the animation scenes I just kept thinking “this would be so pretty if it weren’t a goddamn cartoon”.
And I feel bad for poor Anna Torv. Everyone else’s animated alter ego looked at least a little bit like the actor who played them but Animated!Olivia was just terrible. Evidence. That’s so bad that it’s just mean. And lastly Lil!Olivia’s line “I knew the real you would recognize me.” Yeah, cause he totally did that last time. I’m sure they were going for some sweet and profoundly deep OTP moment but it just made me laugh.
Man, Fringe would make the worst anti-drug example ever. Everyone on this show has more fun on LSD. Especially Broyles. I’ve gotten so used to seeing him make that stern-constipated-serious-business-frowny face that seeing him smile actually creeped me out a little bit. Broyles is not all happy smiley. Not even Alt!Verse Broyles. You know, before he was all dead and stuff.

Walk The River // Guillemots
Love this song right now, especially the lyric “walk the river, like a hunted animal…”. I’ve been ambivalent about them in the past (I wouldn’t consider myself a fan because I only have a random handful of songs by them that I like) but I listened to a stream of their newest album, Walk The River, and really liked what I heard.
Random Cap Of The Day: Hanna Marin (Ashley Benson) from Pretty Little Liars. My favorite guilty pleasure crack!show. It’s not very good but it sure is a lot of fun, and like the name indicates, it stars a lot of pretty people. And I’m shallow. :)
Sunday. Half past noon. Haven’t eaten lunch. Haven’t taken a shower or any of the other numerous things I should have done by now…
TUMBLR IS EATING MY LIFE.
Blood // The Dears
I’m completely obsessed with the new album from The Dears, Degeneration Street.
